Summary and Review of the "Study Group" Project in BNUBS for the 2023-2024 Academic Year

In order to further strengthen the construction of academic atmosphere, fully mobilize the enthusiasm of students in BNUBS for independent learning, promote personalized learning and development, strengthen mutual assistance and support in learning, effectively improve the quality of undergraduate talent cultivation, deepen the reform and practice of talent cultivation mode, strengthen academic mutual assistance and support, BNUBS has explored the establishment of a "study group" system in November 2023. After one academic year of operation, each study group has achieved remarkable results in academic performance, research projects, and paper output.

1Operation of the "Study Group" Project in the 2023-2024 Academic Year

By setting quantifiable learning goals and a comprehensive learning plan, this year's "learning group" has a total of 20 group review projects. During the project operation period, each group carefully organized learning and discussions, encouraged and supervised each other, actively assisted students with learning difficulties, and worked hard to overcome various difficulties encountered during the operation process. They completed at least 14 centralized learning sessions, covering various aspects such as professional course learning, English proficiency development, academic paper discussions, etc., achieving group cooperation and learning from multiple perspectives and fields, and smoothly promoting various learning plans of the learning group.









In order to summarize and showcase the achievements of the study group project, promote communication and learning among various study groups, share academic mutual assistance and assistance experiences, on the afternoon of October 31, 2024, BNUBS conducted the final acceptance and defense review of the "study group" project for the 2023-2024 academic year at 1610 in the main building. The evaluation team for this final defense is composed of Han Lili, Associate Secretary of the Party Committee of our School, Chang Xinyang, Secretary of the Youth League Committee, full-time counselor Wang Jun, double shoulder counselor Gao Jingjing, double shoulder counselor Zhang Huilin, and double shoulder counselor Xu Kaige.

During the defense process, each project leader presented and reported on the project through PPT, including learning plans, learning exchange activities, difficulties encountered and solutions, learning group experiences, and achievements. Each group presented and defended for about 10 minutes in sequence, each with their own characteristics and outstanding achievements.

The judges carefully listened to the reports of each project leader and inquired and commented on the achievement of the group's initial learning objectives, the methods and approaches for the group to make significant progress, and the specific activities of the learning group. The judges suggested that the activities of the study group should be goal oriented, emphasizing the importance of the group leader actively organizing and self-directed learning. At the same time, they encouraged students to continue to strengthen learning mutual assistance and support after the end of the study group operation cycle, and to make continuous progress together. After mid-term review, final defense, and review by the academic counseling room evaluation team, a total of 15 study groups were awarded final grades. Among them, 5 study groups achieved excellent final grades, while the rest achieved qualified final grades.



2Summary of Achievements of the "Study Group" for the 2023-2024 Academic Year

The current study group project has achieved remarkable results. During the operation period of the "study group", the members of the study group made significant progress in their academic performance. The total ranking of undergraduate members participating in the study group increased by an average of 5 places, with the "Prosperous" group increasing by an average of 20 places and the "Financial Intensive Learning Group" increasing by an average of 13.5 places. In terms of scholarships, a total of 2 people have received the National Inspirational Scholarship, 18 people have received the Beijing First Class Scholarship, and several people have received the Beijing Second Class Scholarship, Competition First Class Scholarship, Competition Second Class Scholarship, and Three Good Students. In addition, three groups won the H Prize in the American Mathematical Modeling Contest, with five people having IELTS scores of more than 6.5, more than 600 in CET-4 and more than 500 in CET-6. The "Ellis Business School" group is full of researchers or students going abroad. Each group also has a number of students who go to Peking University, Renmin University of China, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and Beijing Normal University.

The research projects and papers conducted by study groups have also achieved impressive results. During the operation cycle of the study group, 9 national level scientific research projects were initiated, of which 2 were completed; Nine municipal level scientific research projects have been approved, of which three have been completed; Nine school level scientific research projects have been approved, of which four have been completed. In terms of academic achievements, during the operation period of the study group, 5 journal papers and 28 working papers were published, including 6 conference papers and 11 research project papers. In addition, the "Come and Call 321" learning group won the "National Excellence Award" of the CPPCC simulation proposal, and other groups participated in the "Sharp Beacon Moment" business simulation contest, Oliver Wyman Impact consulting case contest, "Create Youth" Challenge Cup, Internet+Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition It can be said that there are abundant achievements, each with its own accomplishments.

The "Study Group" project of BNUBS aims to stimulate students' interest in learning through interactive communication and ideological collision, fully demonstrating the advanced models of academic mutual assistance and support in our School. It is also an effective reform and practice for our School to improve the quality of undergraduate talent cultivation and deepen the talent cultivation mode. After a year of careful construction and unremitting efforts from teachers and students, the "Study Group" project has created a strong academic atmosphere, and students have achieved academic, research, and competition results. We believe that in the future, students can continue to help each other, mobilize their enthusiasm for self-directed learning, promote personalized development, and better realize their aspirations!
