Our School and the Trade Union Jointly Organized An Activity to Enhance the Research Abilities of Young Teachers

In order to deepen the study and implementation of the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the National Education Conference, and continuously improve the research ability of young teachers, the second session of the Beijing Normal University Young Teachers Research Ability Enhancement Salon was held on the afternoon of December 3, 2024 in the 803 Academic Lecture Hall of Zone A of the main building. This event is hosted by the Trade Union and other departments of Beijing Normal University, and co organized by BNUBS and other departments. Four universities, including Sichuan Normal University Union and Qinghai Normal University Union, actively participated. More than 750 people participated in this activity through online and offline learning methods. The lecture was hosted by Professor Wei Hao, Associate Dean of BNUBS.

Liu Shouying, a distinguished professor of the "Yangtze River Scholars Award Program" of the Ministry of Education and the former dean of the School of Economics of Renmin University of China, gave a special lecture on "Some Basic Skills for Scientific Research". He outlined the current situation of scholars writing research papers, pointed out the problems existing in the research activities of young scholars, and explained the methods of conducting field investigations and problem oriented research methods. Finally, Professor Liu Shouying put forward suggestions on how to be a good policy consultant based on national policies, emphasizing that young scholars should improve their political stance, strengthen their sense of mission, polish their basic scientific research skills, and serve the major needs of the country with high-quality scientific research results.

Professor Wei Hao mentioned in the summary that Dean Liu Shouying, based on his years of teaching and research experience and examples, focused on the core issues and provided in-depth analysis. These aspects and issues are currently the pain points, difficulties, and obstacles faced by young teachers and doctoral students in their own development. Director Liu's lecture had a huge impact on students' thinking. After the meeting, students carefully reflected on the content of the lecture and benefited greatly. High quality assistance will help young researchers grow better and faster. Finally, He expressed his gratitude to the leaders of the trade union and all the teachers for their hard work, to the sister colleges for their active response and cooperation, and to all the teachers both online and offline for their full participation.

The teachers and students who participated in the learning were fully focused and actively interacted. They all expressed that the lecture had a clear theme, rich content, and sufficient examples. Especially, the suggestions on problem awareness, investigation and research, topic research, and article writing were of great help to the improvement of young teachers' scientific research ability.
