On the evening of November 9, 2024, the 37th lecture of the "Digital Economy and Management Lecture Hall" of BNUBS, titled Observation of the Development Trends of China's Automotive Industry, was held in the lecture hall of the Electronic Building. This lecture specially invited Zhou Lingkun, President of Deloitte China Digital Business Group, to give a lecture. Zhou Jianghua, Director of MBA Education Center, presided over the lecture, while Li Jing, Associate Director of MBA Education Center, and more than 150 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students from the School attended to listen the lecture.

Speaker: Zhou Lingkun

Mr. Zhou first reviewed the Chinese automobile market in the first three quarters of 2024, explaining the overall sales volume, competitive landscape, segmented markets, city sales, and introducing the export situation. He pointed out that due to weak consumer confidence, the sales volume of passenger cars in the Chinese automobile market slightly increased by 2% in the first three quarters of 2024, with the decline in fuel vehicles continuing to widen. The growth rate of new energy vehicles has slowed down but remains resilient in the medium to long term, and the penetration rate of new energy passenger cars has reached 46%. Subsequently, he sorted out the core challenges facing the development of the automotive industry, pointing out potential reasons such as the problem of increasing revenue without increasing profits, excessive competition, and lack of economies of scale in the automotive industry. Finally, he analyzed the three major ways out of cost reduction, open cooperation, and going global using cases such as Tesla and Korean car companies. After the lecture, Mr. Zhou actively interacted with students and answered their questions.
