In recent years, the discipline of labor economics has made great progress in China. In order to jointly build a high-level academic exchange platform for issues and theories of China's labor economy and promote the development of China's labor economics at a higher level, The Editorial Department of Economic Research, Beijing Normal University, Renmin University of China, Jinan University, Peking University, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Southwestern University of Finance and Economics jointly launched the "China Labor Economics Frontier Forum". The Forum is held once a year. The previous two forums were organized by Jinan University and Renmin University of China respectively. The 3rd China Labor Economics Frontier Forum (2019) will be held in Beijing Normal University on May 25, 2019.

The forum is now open to scholars at home and abroad. Based on China's national conditions and development practices, the Forum encourages scholars to study related issues in the field of labor economics from multiple perspectives, especially those of great theoretical and practical significance in the process of China's development and reform. Scholars at home and abroad are welcome to contribute!

 

The essay selection includes but is not limited to the following areas

 

1. Marxist labor economy theory and its new development in the new era

 

2. Research on poverty and income distribution

 

3. Study on labor supply behavior

 

4. Research on labor demand behavior

 

5. Compensatory wage differentials and discrimination

 

6. Labor migration and employee mobility

 

7. Research on education, health and human capital investment behavior

 

8. Research on social security and its effect on labor market

 

9. Study on children's education and its Labor market effect

 

10. Research on search and matching efficiency in labor market

 

11. Experimental methods of labor economics research

Essay writing

 

The papers requested for the forum must be original and unpublished papers. Both Chinese and English papers can be submitted. Please refer to the articles published in Economic Research and American Economic Review for both Chinese and English writing styles. To facilitate anonymous review and contact, please list the author's information (name, work unit, corresponding author, telephone number, E-mail address, etc.) independently on the homepage of the essay, and mark corresponding author.

 

Submissions

Please send the electronic version of the essay to luochl@bnu.edu.cn before May 1, 2019, with the subject of the email as "Essay calling for the Third Labor Economics Frontier Forum -- Name of the first author", and the file name of the electronic version of the essay as "Main Title of the essay calling -- name of the first author" (failure to follow this mark will affect the evaluation of the essay).

 

Review

 

The paper review committee is composed of scholars active in the frontier research of labor economics (including domestic and foreign scholars from the initiating units and non-initiating units) and editors of the editorial department of Economic Research. All papers submitted for each forum will be anonymously reviewed by the paper Review Committee. According to the evaluation results, the organizing committee will arrange all the submitted papers according to the score, and determine the final list of selected papers. The selected papers are considered as submitted papers to Economic Research. Submissions will be notified by May 15, 2019.

 

According to the recommendation of the paper review committee, the editorial department of Economic Research will determine about 10 excellent papers and enter the anonymous review process of Economic Research.

 

No service fee will be charged for this forum. Participants will pay for their own transportation and accommodation. The working meal during the forum will be provided free of charge by the organizer.
