Speaker: Grzegorz W. Kolodko (former vice president and treasury secretary of Poland)

Introduction of the Speaker:

         Grzegorz W. Kolodko, the former vice president of Poland, used to serve as the treasury secretary for four terms and the chief consultant of IMF, the World Bank, WTO Economic Development Research Institute, and EU. He is now working as professor of political economy in Kozminski University and the director of Poland Think-tank.

         He is an excellent politician, economist, and chief designer of Polish economic reform. In 1989, he joined Central European Economic Reform Roundtable. From 1994 to 1997, as vice president and treasury secretary, he led Poland to enter Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. From 2002 to 2003, he also led Poland to enter the EU and established TIGER website for Kozminski University, aiming to study the development and integration of global economy. He has published 50 economics books and 400 professional papers about political and economic reforms. His book, Truth, Errors and Lies. Politics and Economics in a Volatile World, has been published in 26 languages, and he was nominated the American Political Science Association Prize for this book.

 

Lecture Introduction:

         The Political Economy of The Future, the latest book of Mr. Kolodko, explores the main challenges facing by human being with experience and wisdom. The author examines the future economic and political trends from the perspective of a leader and discusses issues like future agenda, globalization, market and government in age of globalization, value of economy, international agreements and divergences, social and ecological factors limiting economic growth, future population problem, evolution of economic inequality, technological development, war and peace in the future, the coming Asian Age, and the future economic policy. He rationally analyzes these issues with accurate data and proposes scientific predictions and reasonable suggestions for future development of human and the world. And he will share his unique understanding toward the general trend of the world in this lecture.
